Meet the Founders
Jack Rennie
The Lakeside Players was formed out of a desire to remove barriers. We wanted to remove financial barriers, so we minimized production costs and put the performances of the artists at the forefront; we wanted to remove geographical barriers, so we took the show outdoors to the people; we want the shows to be relatable and accessible, so we heavily adapt the text, disregard gender roles, and fit it all in around an hour. I'm deeply influenced by my time performing and watching street theatre across the globe and my hope is to bring more works like this to Canadian audiences. It's all about HAVING FUN and I sincerely hope we might share a laugh together soon.

In 2018 Jack asked me to help write an adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac to put on in front of his house. After checking him for head trauma we sat down, started typing, and suddenly a script appeared. Then my computer crashed and we lost everything, BUT we wrote it again! I guess the moral of that story is to never give up on something.
Connecting with an audience on a personal level is something I could rarely feel like I'd done when I couldn't see the audience through the lighting glare. With Cyrano and Robin Hood, I feel like we create new connections with every show. The audience is the only thing that matters at live performance, and I hope you leave feeling that way.
